X51 uses a "whitelist" of games to set it to use the discrete graphics card. In the Nvidia control panel you can "define" which CPU the games use. Sounds like the older games aren't in the list. Just add them and you should be ok
just dont plug into the onboard video and you will not have this issue i have had my x51 for close to 1 year now and i n ever use it. unplug it and all will be working like normal PC. why they put optimus on a desktop pc i will never know.
