Cannot Remove BIOS Upgrade Program After Upgrading

My husband and I have identical Dimension 4600s.  This morning, the Dell Alerts program said we should upgrade our bios.  I followed the on-screen instructions and upgraded my bios without problem.  My husband then performed the same upgrade moments later, but now he cannot delete the update program from his desktop.  Whenever he tries to delete the program, he gets the following message:

"Cannot delete D4600A06:  It is being used by another person or program.  Close any programs that might be using the file and try again."

How do we get this off of his desktop?  We have tried rebooting and shutting down all other programs, no matter what, we get the same error message.

    Steve,

    Thanks for the reply, and we will try deleting in safe mode.  Quick question, though... how do we tell if the bios upgrade was successful or not?

    Never mind, got it figured out.  Now we just have to boot into safe mode...

    First, was the BIOS upgrade successful? If so, then try booting into Safe Mode (start tapping the F8 key just before Windows starts to load) then try deleting the file in Safe Mode.

    Figured it out.  Safe Mode didn't work, but Safe Mode Command Prompt did.  I logged in as Administrator, found my way to the proper directory, and deleted the file through the DOS "del" command.  Rebooted, everything seems fine now.

    The BIOS version is listed at the top of the BIOS setup screen.  To get to the BIOS setup screen, hit the F2 key immediately after you start the computer.
