CMOS modifications - How to ?

Hi :)  I managed to complete #2 in the list below but I don't know where /how to make the other changes because I didn't see those options on the start-up screen.   Anyone?  Thanks.

Turn on the power to the system and enter the CMOS.

  1. Make sure the following items are set in the CMOS:
    1. Set Assign IRQ to VGA to :  ENABLED
    2. Set primary Display / Video adapter to :  AGP     (done)
    3. Set AGP aperture size to ¼ the size of the memory on the video card.
    4. Set video palette snoop to :  DISABLED
    5. Set AGP side banning to : AGP 4x or 8x
    6. Set Shadow Video BIOS/ROM to :  DISABLED
  2. Save changes and exit from CMOS.

firstly its not the cmos you're changing, its the bios. many of these options aren't available in the dell bios but you should be able to find agp aperture size under the memory information heading - make sure you set this to 128mb!!! (the smaller the amount of ram on your graphics card the larger this should be but 128 usually works well). don't worry too much about the others.

the problem you had with sims happened to me with colin mcrae 05, which is another dvd game. sonic dla causes problems for some reason. the game initially took ages to load from the disc then i got blue screen. to prevent this from happening just uninstall sonic dla from add/remove programs in control panel. its really not necessary since windows xp has a cd writing wizard which can perform more or less the same function. after you uninstall sonic dla open your cd drive properties go to the recording tab and enable cd recording. this will solve all your problems.

let me know if you still have problems
