Dim 4400 MOB replacement

Can anyone tell if the Del Dim 4300 MOB will be able to replace the 4400-- ie. will it fit the case, and secondly what are the differences between the two??  I tried to replace the 4400 with a refurbished 4550 and I could not get it to work so I am still searching.  Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank-you.

The 4300 uses SDR-SDRAM, so you'd need new RAM.
    Neither the 4300 nor the 4400 support a 533 MHz FSB CPU - they're 400 MHz only.

Heard that the Dimension 4500 mobo can be a replacement for the 4400. Found the post here somewhere..just can't remember exactly. Anyway, the price of both mobos are the same.

    rj4400,

I put a DIM 4550 mobo in my DIM 4400, no problem.  It's a simple swap as long as the replacement 4550 mobo includes the mounting tray.  I reused my processor & memory too.  I've since upgraded to a 3.06GHz processor and PC2700 RAM.
