Driver Question?
Hello all,
I've been trying to install a Logitech G5 laser mouse for three days and Logitech Support thought I should come here to hopefully find some answers... For some reason the new hardware wizard cannot find the necessary software to install. The device is a plug n play, but it did come with the install cd. I have a laptop with the same os as my desktop and it installs like a charm and it is an awesome mouse btw, but this mouse is for my desktop. I have other devices that install on the desktop with no hitches. I've used every usb port available on my 600 at least ten times, but it's not making any difference. Any who, it's not a hardware problem and Logitech feels that it's a driver issue of some kind. Can any one tell me if there is a driver download that might fix this issue? Has any one else had this problem?

XP Home SP3
Thanks for your help

Chris,
When you say remove them from the device manager, does this mean to right click and point to uninstall? Give me a hint when you say all USB hubs, every thing thats HID-Compliant? Should I physically unplug those devices as well?
Sorry for the 3rd grade questions...
Thanks
Mr-Four
Ron,
If I disable Anti Virus, would'nt that be dangerous? Or does safe mode block incoming or should I just power off modem/router before disabling anti-virus? Sorry folks, I'm not very computer savvy, I just know enough to be dangerous...
I'm still unsure how to remove all usb hubs in device manager, I understand how to uninstall devices, I just not sure which ones and I'm too chicken to try out.
HELP! :emotion-18:
Thanks,
Mr-Four
You're not going to be downloading/installing anything else while the antiviral software is disabled and the Logitech software should be 'clean' so you should be safe. But if you're paranoid, you could power off and disconnect the router from the PC before disabling the antiviral software and rebooting in Safe Mode.
Chris meant that you should open Device Manager and expand the list under USB. Then right-click and uninstall each USB root hub. When you reboot, Windows should reinstall the USB ports.
But before you uninstall the root hubs, double-click each one, one at a time, and click its Power tab. Identify the one that has the mouse connected to it, and uninstall that root hub last. Otherwise, the instant you uninstall the one with the mouse, you'll lose all mouse function, and you won't be able to use the mouse uninstall any of the remaining root hubs.

Mr-Four,
Try removing all of the USB Hubs in the device manager and let windows reinstall them.
