I've been having some hardware problems
I've bought this computer from best buys a couple years ago and within the first year or so i noticed afew problems i think its hardware.
first problem i have a lighted keyboard i have it plugged into my usb port on my dell studio xps desktop and what it does when i notice this is the lights flicker on and off and when i'm trying to type it will spam whatever keys like i was holding it down which i'm not when i type.
second problem is when this happens with any sound i notice it mostly listening to music that my sound will get all staticy and messy.
last problem it does is it will completely freeze up and sound will loop endlessly until i do a manual reboot which i think might do more harm then good.
so does anyone know if any of this is connected to a faulty motherboard, cpu, usb, or could this all be something else entirely ?
i've taken this pc back to best buys and had it checked out and the most they came up with they found was a bad hard drive which i got upgraded but that didn't fix anything at all and i'm really getting sick of this constant problem.
i'm not totally sure on the number on this pc what model or anything i just know its a dell studio xps desktop lol.
oh yeah another issue i just remembered was my fan would rev up really loud for afew seconds and then slow down again.

well its a "Merc Stealth" keyboard and i used this on my sony viao for awhile and no problems there and i even used the dell keyboard that came with this pc and it still gives me typing problems so its not the keyboard.
how do i find out exactly what the model number is ?
but i do know i have windows vista 64 home premium.
Scanned thoroughly for malware recently?
There are some audio issues caused both by Roxio and DataSafe software which Dell may have installed on this PC. So check the Drivers/Download page for your system using the Service Tag again to see if there are updates for either/both of these that may fix the audio problems they're causing. That doesn't necessarily mean they're the only possible causes for this type of problem. But start there...
Is the keyboard attached to a REAR USB port on the tower? Have you tried a different rear port? Is it wired or wireless?
Did this keyboard come with its own installation CD? You may want to uninstall that software, reboot and reinstall the software.
Examine the plug (and cord?) on the keyboard and the PC USB port to see if either is damaged/bent.
Do you have a lot of power hungry USB devices connected to this PC? If you disconnect everything, except mouse, monitor and keyboard, do you still have the problem?

Is it a Logitech Illuminated keyboard (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/4740)?
There have been numerous reports of this particular keyboard not working well with Dell computers.
If your computer works fine with another keyboard, I would suggest finding another keyboard.
