Machine_Check_Exception
I got quite a scare this morning. I have a 2-week old Dell {XPS710, WinXP Pro, Raid 1}. When I attempted to boot-up this morning, I was greeted with a blue screen entitled 'Machine_Check_Exception.' This, I've never encountered before.
The screen told me to reboot IF this was a 'first-time' happening.
The codes/numbers displayed: 0x0000009c; 0x00000000; 0xBA34C050; 0xB2000040; 0x00000800 {I could be off one '0' there somewhere}.
I shut-down, changed UPS {also had a 2-week old UPS}. I rebooted, and it essentially re-booted OK, I shut-down again, and it rebooted totally
normal.
What most likely happened? Do the above codes tell us any particular thing? What are the chances my PC 'got hurt'?

We're seeing a lot of random BSOD's reported in the forums - so it may just be a quirk unless you get BSOD's often/regular, then call it in. I wouldn't worry about your PC getting hurt unless you see other problems.

I just spent 3-hours on the phone with a Dell Support Tech - who guided me though a comprehensive series of 'Diagnostic Tests.' Didn't find anything wrong.
So, hopefully, a one-time only glitch - james
