MS Outlook Hangs
I have the following hardware/OS/application config:
Dimension 8200
128 Mb RDRAM
Windows XP Home
MS Office Professional for XP
Norton SystemWorks 2002 for XP
My problem is as follows. When I start up/open Outlook I am experiencing erratic behavior. Sometimes the tool will open clean, receive emails and open them flawlessly. However more frequently what is occuring is that the Outlook will open but when I attempt to open any email that has an attachement, the system becomes unresponsive, I get the infinite hour glass running, and I end up having to kill the "not responding" process via my Windows Task Manager.
Restarting my computer sometimes "fixes" the problem but more often than not Outlook behaves badly even after the restart.
In thinking back to my systems's evolution, I recall that Outlook used to work consistently well, but this erratic problem reared its ugly head after I installed the Norton Systemworks application referenced above. I have tried disabling some of the features that have been alluded to in other posts on this board, but without any success in impacting Outlook. Any thoughts or advice will be appreciated
