Need Drivers After Fresh Windows XP Installation

I did a fresh installation of Windows XP on my Precision 670 Desk Top computer. When I try to download the drivers form the Dell Support page all I ever get is the download manager. Is there anyplace I can get the required drivers on a CD?

Completely clear all cookies from your browser cache and go back to support.dell.com.  Choose the 'download using my browser' option - NOT the download manager.

For the download manager to work, you must have the dot.net framework installed (you can get it from windowsupdate.microsoft.com).

When I try to install the audio driver I get the follwoing message:

"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please insure that your product is properly installed before running the Setup program". Audio worked fine before I did the fresh install of Windows XP. So I know the system should work. What am I doing wrong?

It is necessary to install the Intel Chipset Driver ahead of anything else; if you don't, the operating system will not properly recognize all the components of the hardware.  The only thing that gets installed ahead of the chipset driver is the Dell Desktop System Software if it is available for your operating system.  You should find it under the heading of System Utilities.

After you have installed those first two, Dell recommends that you follow them with the drivers for the video adapter, network interface adapter, and the sound adapter in that order.  Anything else you have is not usually order critical and may be installed in the order of your choice.

Before wiping everything and starting over, try doing the driver installations over again in the given order.  I have often had success with that procedure.
