Overclocking Issue

I figured out why my comp was freezing, it is because I had overclocked my 6600gt. This is such a pickle.... When my 6600gt is overclocked the graphics are amazing and runs smoothy, but I expierence alot of freezing and can tell that it is really working my comp when overclocked. When I set my clock freqencies the way they came, the graphics look alright and don't run as smoothy but I don't expierence any lockups or lagging. What is it that is causing my CPU usage to be so high after overclocking? I would really like to have it overclocked while not having and lockups/freezes. Could it be my PSU, since dell is only equipped with a 250 watt, I believe my card requires more watts.

Anytime you overclock and it freezes or has artifacts, you are overclocking it more than the card can handle.  If you keep doing this, it WILL destroy the card.  You need to find the peak overclock by lowering the settings until it stops freezing.

You can't look at someone else's results and alway expect the same from yours due to different manufacturers, memory chips, even the week it was made makes a huge difference.
