Peripheral Problems.

I have a Dell XPS 8100.

My keyboard randomly fails, meaning that if i am typing into skype or the address bar, it will recognize an "enter key" after each character when i do not, in fact, press the enter key after each character. It results in my messages looking something like this:

h

i

h

o

w

a

r

e

u

?

I also have issues with my mouse at the times when this is going on. If I click something during these times my computer seems to recognize a succession of clicks as opposed to just the single click.

The only way to stop this from happening is to turn off my pc and restart it.

* On an interesting note, when this problem is occurring, it does not affect the way the peripherals behave inside of World of Warcraft. While things are going berserk outside of the game, in the game the single clicks are recognized fine and I don't get the phantom "enter key" after my characters.

Please help, the problem used to happen about once a day, but its happening 3-4 times a day now. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi debbilyn,

Have you tried another keyboard or mouse?

I have. I recently got a new Razr Naga. Drivers are up to date on this and my Razr Deathstalker keyboard.

I really appreciate your response :)

Did this problem occur before you set up the new keyboard and mouse?

Does this sound like a MOBO problem at all? (Please say no) :emotion-6:

Oh, man... sorry.  Sounds like a bad motherboard too me- try updating you chipset/ interface drivers before we jump to to many conclusions, though!

No, it does not sound like a motherboard problem.

How about safe mode? Does the keyboard behave the same way?

    Windows 7

I have moved the peripherals to several different USB ports.

    Thanks!

I haven't tried in safemode. I can do that and I will update here. Again this is an intermittent problem, but it is happening more and more frequently.

    I really appreciate your help!
