Printer Problem Please help!

Hi,
I have a Dimension 8300 running Win xp.  My problem is when I send a document to the printer it will print fine for a while and then all of a sudden it will print half of the document and then just stop printing.  A message comes up that says the printer has lost contact with the computer.  The printer is a Hp photosmart 7350.  I never had this problem with it before.  Printer is connected to USB port 2.0.
Any help with this annoying problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, samo241

Wish I had a solution for you.  Had very similar problem with Dimension 8400, Windows XP and Epson R800.  Hours of time on the phone with Tech Support failed to resolve the problem.  Customer Care Rep told me "the Dimension 8400 will only work with printers WE sell".  Am returning the whole system to Dell today, after their last suggestion was that I accept a refurbished processor in exchange for my 3-week old processor, and see if that works.

Oh, by the way, Epson sent replacement printer right away, and I replaced USB cable as well.  No change in the problem.  Working with Tech Support at Dell was a nightmare!  Am returning the system because I can't face having to ever make another call to Tech Support.

Try using a shorter USB cable if you have one.  For most printers, HP recommends lengths less than 10 feet.  Also is you are using a USB hub, make sure that the HUB is powered (one that is plugged into an outlet).  Another suggestion would be to clean the contacts on the USB cable on both ends, especially is you just started having the problems and you've changed nothing software wise.    Although this is a stretch, check for spyware running in the background which might cause communication problems with your devices.  Good Luck.
