RAM upgrade

Have a D/top Studio XPS 435MT with 4 gig RAM I want to add another 4 gig from Dell store but cannot make sense of which  ddr modules to order.  Should be easy I know but the support web site isn't.

    tj23,

First, how many of the six slots in your XPS 435MT are currently populated and what type of memory is currently installed?  I would recommend that you use the same type of memory to expand the system to 8Gb.

The types of memory that the XPS 435MT can use are DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, or DDR3 PC3-8500 non-ECC RAM.  You can have a maximum of 12Gb (4Gb x 3) memory per slot but the maximum system memory is 24Gb.

If your system has two 2GB memory sticks, then I would add two more 2Gb memory sticks of the same type to increase total memory to 8Gb.

You might wish to consider ordering your memory upgrades from here:

    Hope this information helps.
