Realtek Problems MT435

Software updated, Audio Code ALC888S, Enter into Realtek HD Audio Manager, set spekers to 5.1 and run test all is well, click ok. When I play itunes etc... sound only comes out of the two main frint right and left. Please help if you can. I think it would be less cotly to go buy a new sound card and install it than to spend more than 5 hours trying to grt it to work 5.1.

Usually, you won't get surround sound unless the media player you are using is "sending" surround sound to the sound card.  Many media players are only two channel stereo.

Mostly you will get 5.1 (or 7.1) with certain games or with some commercial movie DVD's.

Two things to consider, if you add a PCI sound card.  1. it won't connect to the Dell front panel headphone and mic connections.  2. Check to see if the sound card has the capability to simulate 5.1 from a 2 channel stereo signal.
