Replacing Power Supply

Hi Everyone,

Earlier tonight while using my XPS 600 system, it made a loud "pop" and immediately shut off. It will not post anymore. Whenever I attempt to power on the power LED is flashing amber which I know means the power supply is operating out of normal parameters.

After receiving no help from Dell Technical support as my warranty expired (but it did take 3 hours on hold for them to determine that they can't help me) I went through my own diagnosis. Everything I have come up with is that the power supply needs replacing.

I was wondering if anyone knows if Dell will send me a replacement power supply (it appears though by looking at the case that I might need a replacement case) to do the case swap myself or will I be required to ship my system to them for repairs?

One further question, does anyone know if I'll have any issues placing my system in a standard ATX case, or will a dell case be required do to the proprietary components?

Thanks for any help!

You could try searching the Internet for replacement power supply. If all else you can contact Dell for a replacement power supply.  I would not attempt to change out the case. I doubt you could find a case that will accommodate your component. FYI
