Speakers
When I moved from New Orleans I had to replace my computer. I bought this Dell which had no speakers. I've tried to use my Parrot-221 speakers but do not have the driver info. The shop in N.O. is not available. Does anyone know who manufactures these speakers? When I search all I get is information on people who lecture on the bird!

The speakers are powered by a plug into the wall outlet.285

Then they should work, if they are "analog" speakers (and most are). Just plug them into the speaker jack on the PC.

I have a Dimension 3000 that i just puchased without speakers because I have a set of new powered digital speakers. Will these not work with this system?285

While I may be not as sophisticated as some, I have plugged the speakers into the jack and the computer does not recognize them. It says there are no audio connected. In fact, I have plugged them into every available jack I could find. That's when I noticed the list of speakers (or audio devices) the computer does recognize. I hate to spend any more money on this computer than absolutely necessary. It was bad enough to have to replace it. That's why I was looking for driver info. (I may be mistaken as to the correct term.)285

Redhoney_500, could you please state how/where you see the above item so we can provide more assistance. Generally speaking, speakers is speakers and analog speakers should all work with either integrated audio or a sound card. The computer does not really recognize speakers and has no way of knowing what brand or type of speaker is plugged in. If the computer (in device manager or Control Panel, Sounds, Hardware) does not list any audio devices, then it is a driver issue or possibly a hardware problem. Hopefully, this is a simple driver problem we can help with.

If I go to Sounds & Audio Devices Properties it says,"No Audio devices".285

Your sound device is not being recognized. What computer do you have? Also, can you get to Device Manager and confirm there is nothing in the Sounds section. If there is something there, what does it say? If you have integrated audio you will also want to restart the computer and go into the bios and look for the setting for integrated audio on or off. Perhaps it has somehow been turned off. Also, by any chance did you buy a refurbished Dell from the outlet store? Sorry, I do not know about bios(?)--in the Sounds & Audio devices Audio--Sound Playback it says,"No playback devices" under default devices. I bought this computer from a Dell customer here in town. He went notebook and my computer was zapped in the storm.
