Go to SolutionStudio XPS 9100 missing ram
To keep it short, I have 12gb of ram, but windows say I have 8.
Thing who say I have 12:
CPU-Z
My eye that see 6 stick of ram(unless there is 1.3gb ram stick)
bios say "memory installed 12gb"
the purchase proof say I bought 12gb
purchase proof also say I bought triple channel which wouldn't work with 8gb(only work with number that can be divided by 3)
Dell support center show me the description of 6 stick of RAm of 2gb each and all of them have a different serial number.
Thing who say I have 8:
bios say "memory available 8gb"
Under system tab it say "ram installed 8gb"
CCleaner also see only 8gb
Dell support center say I have 8gb
Is there any fix for this or an explanation as to why I'm missing 4gb of ram?
If you need additional information I'll gladly provide them.
Thanks for your help.

Purchased System: 2011 || RAM issue: 2013 || Resolved : 2016
24 GB showed up as 16 GB. Re-Seating fixed for me.
I swore Windows 8 upgrade was guilty. Didn't show up till I upgraded from Win 7. But it was still around after Win 10 upgrade. Turned out to be hardware.
Finally diagnosed problem when PC wouldn't boot to BIOS and I received PSA/ePSA beep code -0222. (Hoping motherboard did not fail)...I booted to BIOS and did hardware test on each (8) DIMM separately. They all passed. One seemed a little weaker. I may have had to re-seat it to boot to BIOS.
I focused problem to this 1 DIMM. I put all DIMM back into Mboard. The problem DIMM was put in slot DIMM3 or next to main power connector. I re-booted to BIOS with all 8 DIMM. Although it booted now, the problem DIMM was missing in BIOS. I turned off and re-seated problem DIMM. I repeated this 3 times before the DIMM was recognized in BIOS. However, now BIOS and Win 10 report 24GB. Fixed problem!
PSA/ePSA -0222 :: "An error occurred during the tests that may involve the main system board of the system. If a memory error is detected, try memory modules individually."
Unknown: Did this fix prior random freezing issue? (haven't seen lately)
Setup: Studio XPS 9100 Desktop/i7 980x/24GB DDR3/SSD boot Sata3/AMD Radeon HD 5870/2 x 1.5TB Seagate Sata2/SB X-fi Titanium
Hi Patrickpi,
We've seen this before. I have no doubt you have 12 installed as you say. The first thing I suggest would be to check for a BIOS update and run that.

Here's your service manual.
Follow that for re-seating the modules.
I didn't see your earlier posts. No idea.
