System won't boot
I have a Dell Dimension XPS T600 with a P III 600 and OS is windows XP home. Last week I installed several windows updates and my system has refused to boot ever since. I even have a hard drive with a complete system backup prior to my problems and that won't boot. The bios recognizes my hard drives and DVD drives. It completes the POST and beeps once as usual but then it won't boot. It won't boot from my windows CD (the drive spins but nothing happens). If I insert a 3.5 inch floppy to run hard drive diagnostics I get the "Starting Caldera DOS" message but then the drive continues to spin endlessly. I have tried reseating my memory modules, cables, and cards without any success. I'm guessing my motherboard is shot but hoping that someone will have a suggestion that might solve my problem. I know my data is intact because I can read my hard drives from another computer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm having a similar problem. Have you been able to determine the cause and what have you done to correct it?

vsmith30,
Try a repair installation of windows to clear this problem. If that does not work a complete reinstallation should clear the problem.
