Broken Mouse Button

Hey all,

I have a Dell XPS | M1530 and my I actually have a physical problem with my mouse. The left clicker button on my mousepad is very pressed down / wobbly. It still functions correctly but it does not give the same satisfying click and sometimes needs multiple clicks to validate. I also have a wireless mouse, but I use my mousepad quite often.

The specific problem is that underneath the left clicker button, the plastic hinges that are supposed to snap into place with the interior are broken.

Is there anyway that dell can replace just this one part? It's just the one piece of plastic which is the left clicker button.

Thanks,

Kenny

    Thank you very much!

So, even though that the one little piece I need can be put in itself, I would still have to ship my whole item in?

If the system is under warranty, call Dell and they will replace the palmrest assembly under warranty.

If your system is out of warranty, this is the part you will need to replace:

The palmrest-touchpad is a single part - subunits are not sold separately, so the whole assembly needs to be replaced (be glad it's not a VAIO, many of which are designed with the keyboard as integral to the touchpad, so the whole top of the system has to be replaced ..)

If you have onsite service, Dell will dispatch the technician with a part;  if you have return to depot, they'll send you a box that you use to return the system and you'll get it back 7-10 days later.
