Buying Help

Hello,
 
I am looking for a Dell Laptop that will be able to run programs such as 3ds Max 7 and Autodesk Inventor 8 with ease. Can anyone let me know what would be a good model and what components that would work best?

    We used Truespace and 3D Studio Max on our I8200 before. We also had AutoCad on the same laptop.  Check out the I8600 Inspiron laptop.
     
    Make sure that you have 1GB RAM (single dimm), Pentium M 2.0,  and Win XP Pro O/S.
    Get the 7200RPM, 60GB, 8MB cache Harddrive. Your choice for a built-in CDRW+DVD burner.
    We use an external LG 12X, USB 2.0 for our digital movie burning.
    We have 2 internal 7K60s on our laptop; we purchased later our media drive 7K60.
    We used an 200GB external USB 2.0 then and still with our I600M, for digital video editing.
     
    You can always go up the Dell line of laptops. Do proper research and then pick the laptop and make sure you get all the hardware upgrades now. Don't wait for later.
     
    Get the 128MB Video card.  You can get additional 1GB memory later.
    Remember:
    1. Your laptop is mobile but not intended to be transported around while on.
    2. If you drink around your laptop, spilt liquids will cost you lots of money.
    3. Use Norton Antivirus to protect your computer.
    4. Clone your harddrive by using Norton Ghost so you can restore your HDD in 30mins if your computer crashes.  Don't rely on MS Restore.
    5. Keep Dell's Restore Disk in a safe place.

    We assume you know all of this, but if this helps, use it in good health.

    I think the I9200 would be your best bet.

    Get the fastest CPU, 1 GB of ram and the largest HD.

    That would be the Pent M 2Ghz and 100GB HD.

    Make sure you Get Win XP Pro, not Home Edition.

    If you have an unlimited budget the Inspiron XPS is the fastest Laptop and would be the top choice.
