Disable Thumb Thingy???

I have a D820 with the little blue thumb mouse thingy in the keyboard.  Is there ANY way to disable that stupid thing?  Whenever I am typing on the keyboard, I brush up against it and it moves the cursor somewhere else on the page and I end up typing somewhere else.  It's driving me crazy and making me totally unproductive.

I don't even use the thing.

Please help?

I'd give almost anything for the track-stick in the middle of my inspiron :(

However, it's not that hard to disable:
Double left click on the Snyaptic icon by the clock (It'll look like the touch pad)
you should get a popup called "Mouse Properties" and the first page you see, will say "Disable Touchpad" and should say "Disable Pointy thing" with a pic of the GHB keys where the pointer is.

Note, "Pointy Thing" is not an official Dell or Synaptic's Descriptoin, and is only my best way of describing it.  It is one of my favourite technical terms that I use with my clients.

I don't have a Snyaptic icon near my clock.  Infact I don't see anything named that anywhere.  I tried going to my control panel to the mouse properties and there is nothing in there to disable the touchpad or pointy thingy.

In the mouse properties, the hardware says its an Alps Touchpad and I tried going into ITS properties and the only thing there is "wheel detection" with the drop down options of: "Detection disabled", "Look for wheel", or "Assume Wheel is Present".

According to the Downloads section, there is an update.  Install that.
Then you **should** see that.  If not, then I don't know, since I have Synaptics *LOL*
Maybe someone else with your system can poke their head in and help

Forget the photo I showed, it's for tablets *LOL* My bad.
