DVD player
I have an Inspiron 2650 that is supposed to play DVDs (And, I think, did about a year ago). Now, for some reason, my computer won't acknowledge that there is a DVD in the D drive. What can I do?

No, I'm not having any problems playing cds. I've also played downloaded movies before without a problem. Or is that not the same? [as DVDs].clareschic

I checked the Device Manager and I do have a DVD/CDROM drive. I'm guessing that means m computer is capable of playing DVDs, I hope?

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
First, check and make sure that you have a DVD drive. Check the Device Manager, and if you will include your Service Tag number in your profile, then I can check your Service Tag number to see if you have a DVD.
Next, run the optical drive test from the Dell Diagnostics. Just before you start the actual test, put a DVD in the drive. The test should run fine with a DVD, if you have a DVD drive.
Are you having any problems reading CDs?
