Hard to figure out your odd abbreviations, but the tv tuner is not a modem. It's a card and on laptops it's usually external usb addon or a card for your card slot. You can always add more memory. However most laptops, inc the 9400, have only 2 dual channel slots, so you would have to replace the 2 512's with 2 1gb's--very expensive proposition. You'd be better getting 2gb's right from the start and be ready for Vista.
