How do I switch on bluetooth

I don't seem to be able to detect my laptop from my mobile phone. I am sure my mobile phone is working correctly, so it must be that my laptop bluetooth is not switched on. I have an Inspiron N5050. Any ideas how to activate bluetooth?

Did you order bluetooth when you ordered the computer? It is not standard on all models. Look up Bluetooth in Windows 7 Help for instructions on how to add a device. There is even a video with instructions.

I ordered with bluetooth, but I don't know if I got what I ordered. Do you know how to check if I have bluetooth, would I have a dedicated key or led to show it's presence, or perhaps an icon in the task bar. If I go into the Accessories menu then there is a Bluetooth File Transfer program, does this mean I have bluetooth? When I start this program it does not display a ny near buy devices, and it tell me to check if my bluetooth "radio" is "plugged in"  ???

Yup I got the same issue, the network card is different to the one ordered. Mine should have come with Bluetooth but it appears to have been replaced with another card. Is your machine based on a Celeron or the I3,I5.......if you look the Celeron should come with bluetooth as standard, but the others do not. I bought the Celeron.

I also have the same problem in my N5050, it connects with the laptops but not with the mobile phone.

Mobile phones require a bluetooth driver -- contact the phone manufacturer or the service provider.
