How much memory do I have ?
Hi guys. Simple question. I should have 2 gb memory installed. System info in control panel also says I have 1918mb memory....so why does the system scanner on Crucial.com suggest that I have only a 1gb and a 512mb stick installed ?.....
I am running a bog standard inspiron 1501 notebook with vista and an amd turion 64x2 1.8 processor if that helps.
Thanks for any advice.

The I1501 has integrated Video Graphics which uses system RAM for Video. If you take the binary total for 2 GB (2048 MB) and subtract what is displayed (1918 MB) you get 130 MB2048 - 1918 = 130Integrated Graphics uses 2 MB for system overhead reducing 130 MB to 128 MB130 - 2 = 128128 MB is the amount of RAM dedicated for the video card.Your system is working as designed with the amount of ram you paid Dell to install.
