Loop in Logon Screen
First, I'm on a Inspiron 6000 with XP Home addition.
Out of the blue I recieved a message "...problem has been detected...windows has been shut down...". It went on to say that if it the first time, restart... Well, I did and now I can't sign onto windows.I think this occured after one of those automatic windows update. Otherwise I can't explain it. Haven't added any hardware or software recently.
When windows boots, the windows signon screen comes up. When I put in my user name and password, it first looks like it is signing on, i.e. "closing network connections, loading personal settings,etc., but rather than opening windows it loops to the sign on screen again.
Have tryed most of the fixes? Safemode, last known.., sign on as administrator.
In all cases the system reverts to the signon screen and loops.
Anyone seen this situation or have any suggestions??
