Microphone Driver?
I'm having an issue with my microphone and would like to know if there are any drivers available for it.
It's the internal microphone for an Inspiron 8100, with ESS Maestro soundcard. The drivers for the soundcard are marked 'Audio only', so I don't know if that's what I'm looking for.

Thank you for the prompt answer, that's what I thought but I figured I'd better make sure.
In a semi-related issue, the updated driver for the soundcard will not stay installed. Upon installation, sound no longer works and the speaker icon is removed. After rebooting, the sound works, but looking at the driver it's reset to the previous version (I can tell by the date, it's 5 months older than the 'last' version). Any suggestions? This may or may not help the microphone issue, however I do like to have the latest drivers.

But it isn't installing the latest driver...if I say 'update driver' and point it to the directory that the new driver in, it says it's the 'updated driver', and gives the symptoms I listed when I try to install it.

Thortok2000,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
There are no drivers for the microphone specifically. The operating system handles operating the microphone. You might want to check the Windows update site for any operating system enhancements.
