Mouse Failure

My Inspiron 8200 lap top has complete and total mouse failure. No mouse will work on it; the stick, the pad or a regular logitech mouse. I've tried going back to the control panel and resetting all options to default but nothing will work. What should I do?

Regular Logitech mouse PS2 (round plug) or USB?  Your palm rest assembly may need replacing, but first remove the keyboard and check the plug from the palm rest assembly to the motherboard underneath.  Pull it loose and reseat.

you could try to reinstall the mouse drivers from the support site specifically for your system..see if it helps!!

And in case you are wondering "How do I remove the keyboard, etc., anyway?" here is a step-by-step link on how to do that and a whole lot more: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins8100/en/sm_en/remove.htm?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19
