No Boot

Hello--
 
I have an Inspiron 6000. Recently, it has developed a tendency not to boot if shut down overnight. I will get a power light, and a hard drive activity light for about two seconds on startup, but that's it...no screen activity, all dark.
 
Oddly, if i put the computer in standby overnight, it starts right up. Also, if I shutdown/startup or use restart, there is no problem.
 
I have been advised to check the CMOS battery, but the clock works fine and I don't see any problems with operation that would suggest battery flakiness. I'm a little reluctant to tear the unit apart to find the CMOS battery anyway. I think I have discovered a heretofore unknown behavior...
 
Any ideas?

    Hey dude,
    u know what the problem might be totally different that what u think it is??:smileysurprised: it might be a problem with the lcd or the lcd cable.in case it is loose it'll give problems like this,try reseating the lcd cable.
    first take the central panel out & then pull up the lcd cable that is coming out of of the hinge & connecting to the system board under the keyboard.it'll be a thick cable,it should resolve the issue.other wise as per me the lcd has some issue,it might be the video card as well,but usually a I6000 doesnt come with a video card. any way try it out.
