Please Help! Multiple Problems with XPS

I have had this XPS M1530 for only about 4 months and it has been nothing but problem after problem and Dell is all but helpful, in fact the first blue screen/crash happened after I tried to connect to their Dell Connect service so they could log in and help me with another issue. Here are the symptoms:

1st. I have had the blue about 4 times, twice when trying to connect to the Dell Connect site and twice when trying to search for the network printer on my wireless home network. When I get the blue screen, it is very hard to get Windows back. It goes into this constant reboot mode and asks about repairing or starting Window normally. No matter what I say, it continues to reboot and blue screen and on and on it goes for about 10 rounds. Last time it happened it eventually repaired itself and booted back to Windows. This XPS has Vista and the printer is connected to an XP PC. I know the blue screen issue is common with either Vista, XPS or both. What can I do? I have tried to download debugging tools from MS, but every time it says it is the wrong tool and won't give me any other info.

2. The XPS stays plugged into the AC adapter constantly and always says "plugged in, not charging" with anywhere from 0-11% battery power. As soon as I unplug the PC from the AC adapter, the PC shuts down. What kind of laptop is it when you can't even go without it being plugged into an outlet. If I wanted a desktop, I would of bought one. I am already on battery #2 and the current power plan is Dell Recommended. Is this problem common? What can I do to be able to use just the battery? If it is plugged in constantly, shouldn't it always have a full charge?

3. Nearly every time I use this machine, the mouse goes crazy and I am unable to click and sometimes pages get highlighted by themselves. This lasts for about 2 minutes or so before the "mouse possession" is over. Is this issues common on this laptop?

Like I said in the beginning, Dell will not help, they don't understand the blue screens. Any ideas would be helpful! I am so sorry for the rant, I am just frustrated at this point.

Thanks,

Julie

That's simply not acceptable!  They're obliged to help, and... given all the problems you've described... it's going to require a visit from a technician.

The telephone support personnel can't be 'expected' to solve problems (I'm not suggesting you were expecting them to btw)... but if they can't offer suitable advice/advice which solves the problems you're having... they should organise a visit from someone who can!

You've paid good money for the machine... it's still well within the warranty period... so you're entitled to proper support!

So my advice would be to email/phone them again, and don't accept being fobbed off!  Demand a resolution!

    Politely of course :smileytongue:

Well, the blue screens can be tough to diagnose, even for tech support becuse they stop error codes can be vague.  It can be either software related or hardware related.  But first, if your system is not charging, you need to have the motherboard replaced, especially if you are on your second battery.  The mouse thing could be motherboard related as well but you might want to have them replace the touchpad just to be sure.  after you get that done, then you can work on the blue screen and see if the replacement hardware might have resolved that issue.

Thank you both so much! I will start with trying again to get some help from Dell and see if I can get the motherboard replaced.
