Problem with Bluetooth

I just got my Dell Inspiron 600m and it has onboard wireless a/b/g and bluetooth. Now I have my wireless enabled, but right-clicked my bluetooth icon to disable it. It constantly keeps popping up a message saying bluetooth is currently disabled after I hear the sound you get when new hardware is detected. I know it is the bluetoother causing this (after a while it ends up saying usb device not recognized -- the bluetooth is connected via internal usb). Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Thank you.

Ok, go into device manager and wait for it to happen again, when you hear the usb disconnect sound the device manager should refresh and the bluetooth module should disappear under usb devices and when you hear the usb connect sound it should reappear, if its the same problem I had. If this is the case you most likely need to get the motherboard replaced, I just started having this problem after having my 600m for a year. I tried everything and I ended up having to send it back to Dell last week, it was pretty painless though. Supposedly the bluetooth card is integrated into the board so they just replaced the board and updated the bios 8 revisions and it works perfectly now. Airborne picked it up on Weds. afternoon, I got it back this morning and its all fine now. You're gonna have to call tech support and go through all the software stuff before they let you send it back. Good Luck!

That is correct to everything.  A little message pops up above the bluetooth icon saying something like bluetooth radio is still disabled, blah blah blah.  I hear the sound everytime I see the message.  Eventually I get a USB error and my computer briefly freezes (the start menu mainly).

I wonder how we can resolve this?  It is getting very annoying.

Yeah...sounds like the problem I am having.  This is thing is brand new though.  I have on-site warranty, but I do not want to go through this bullshit as I don't have time and just spent $2,500 on this thing.

Thats odd that its so new and has this problem, I thought it was a flaw in the older 600Ms. Oh well at least you know what the problem is now.

Heh, I think I just finished dealing with the same problem. So basically you hear the usb disconnect/reconnect sound randomly and then windows pops up with an error saying usb device not recognized?

BTW, you post on genmay right?

This sounds very familiar. I have been using Bluetooth without issue on my Inspiron 600m for about two months. Shortly after (but not immediately) upgrading to the newest software and firmware recently made available on Dell's website, my Bluetooth stopped working and I received the "USB Device Malfunctioned"/"New Hardware Found" messages repeatedly in my system tray. Looks like I'll be sending the system back for some maintainance.
