problem with Volume, please help!

Hello, my name is Mike and I've used this board to solve another problem that I had so I'm hoping that everybody here can help out again. My problem is with my volume controls. Normally when I'm listening to music I like to adjust the volumes in more detail than what is allowed with the buttons on the front of the computer. To do this, I double click on the little speaker icon in the bottom right hand corner which opens a window with four different volume controls. Well now, when I double click on that little icon, nothing shows up. "Volume Control" shows up fine in the taskbar but there is nothing on the screen. I've tried minimizing and then maximizing the window (by right-clicking in the task bar) and I've tried restarting my computer multiple times. Device Manager says that the device is working properly. Any help is appreciated and I thank you VERY MUCH in advance!

this isn't going to actually solve your problem but try going into control panel> sound devices and audio then click advanced under device volume.

does the volume control show up?

Well I just tried your suggestion and the same thing happens. Volume Control shows up in the taskbar but no window appears on the screen. Thank you for writing back so quickly. Any other ideas? I'm open to anything.

I just fixed the problem. I went into the Task manager and right-clicked on the Volume Control. From there I told it to maxamize and it filled the entire screen. I then minimized it and closed it. I then reopened it and now its just as it is supposed to be. I hope this doesn't happen again but for now I'm glad to have my volume back!

I'm by no means an expert but to get to the Task Manager, press and hold Control+Alt+delete. You might also try restarting your computer to see if that brings the volume icon back. I remember once my volume icon disappeared and all I had to do was restart my computer. But again, I'm by no means an expert with this stuff, barely a beginner really but I hope maybe this helps. There are other people here who are alot better with this stuff so hopefully they can contribute. Good luck!
