Re-installation problems!
I have just had a new hard drive and mobo fitted to my Inspiron 510m which seems to now be working fine (at least it turns on now anyway!)
I installed XP with no problems and then I stuck the drivers disk in - I didnt read the instructions properly and along with th fact I could not work out which drivers were meant for which model due to them all being in code I think I may have added the wrong drivers.
I therefore formatted the hard drive, re-installed windows but cannot for the life of me get the machine working properly.
On the resource CD screen it claims drivers are installed (I was told to by Dell to install the 710m ones fo my 510m) however I am unable to resize my screen settings, there is no audio device detected, no playback or recording device these are driver problems aren't they?

- The chipset drivers and notebook system software must be installed first before the other drivers. Did you reformat & reinstall by booting to the xp cd? Here are good instructions: http://www.djdenham.com/Install%20Procedures.htm#Install
- Yeah I formatted from the repair bit of the XP disk. In the dos like bit I did something like Format/fs/C: or something! Then re-instlled...
However it seemed that I had the same problem when I had re-installed windows... do I need to format a different way?
I think I may have installed in the wrong order and also put some of the worng divers on!
