Scrolling device in 8600?
Hey Guys,
I was thinking of buying an 8600 laptop but I saw it at the dell direct store and it did not have a scrolling device. I know the new gateways have a scrolling device built into the touch pad to scroll up and down documents. Will the new dell 9100 have a scrolling device? I have become so used to using the one on my mouse I would not be able to browse the web without one anymore.
Thanks :)

the touchpads have scroll as an option in the right side. I have used 3 laptops over the past year and synaptics has an awesome touch pad with very advanced controls. The one on the 600M are weaker but still more useful than a mouse in regular web surfing.

Yes, with the Synaptics touchpad, you can use mouse gestures for more advanced features.
One of the gestures is the scrolling. Defaulting on the right side of the touchpad, you can scroll up and down. To enable this feature, go to Control Panel > Mouse Options > Gestures tab > Enable "Scrolling..."

I was playing with the 8600 in the dell direct store and I saw no such scroll ability on the touchpad, do I have to special order it?
Thanks!
