Webcam Central - What's Up?
I purchased my Inspiron 5547 2 weeks ago and have been on the phone with customer service almost daily since. Seems I didn't get almost any of the preinstalled software I should have and both Digital Delivery and My Dell Downloads are not working. Customer service contacts me almost daily to let me know they are working on my issues but this is long.
Anyway, in the meantime, can someone tell me where I might get the Webcam Central from other than My Dell Downloads or Digital Delivery? I don't want to wait almost a month for them to figure it out.
Next stop is the Better Business Bureau. I just want escalation.
That is not the point. I should not have to search anywhere for it. I just bought an $800 laptop and I want the software I was supposed to get with it. Customer service should be able to get this to me without issue and here I am awaiting the 5th callback about software I didn't get and that I can't get through My Dell Downloads or Digital Delivery.

webcam central was not made to go with the new laptops that run windows 8.. thats why it isnt on ur laptop. its just a program that was made for older laptops that you can try.
Ok, are you a Dell representative? Not being sarcastic but this is my first time posting here and I don't know if anyone from Dell answers here. In 47 years of IT I'm used to all new laptops coming with at least some basic software to use with the webcam to manipulate color, video size, black and white etc. But anyway, Dell will be on the phone with me in about an hour and I'll just make them go search for the info. That should take another week or so.

Oh yes, I agree. Like I said, wasn't being sarcastic or snarky. Just asking because I know in many forums sometimes a representative will come in and answer questions. Just got off the phone with Dell and they verified there's no Windows 8 version and that I could use any other 3rd party app. Just surprised they don't offer something. Even a basic application but they said that's all through Windows now and that's what they defer to.

This file also known as Dell Webcam Central Version 1.40.05 has been working with all versions of Windows.

Apparently there's a version 2.0 floating around that is supposed to be Windows 8 compatible. www.dell.com/.../EN

found this again.
for version 2,0, but dont really like downloading from other sites, so havent tried and dont know if it works. u know there is a basic cam/camera program with windows 8? i use Microsoft movie maker if i wanna make a vid for someone, otherwise use the win 8 program on start page (its very basic) like using a MS DOS program

i found it before by doing a internet search. but it wasnt from a dell site. also if you enter a search for it on the dell site. ive seen people have the links for it. but i have not tried using them. just put - webcam central - in the search here on dell.com
i found this. its a older version, not sure if there is a newer version. its not exactly made for windows 8.1
and see others having trouble with it. so i didnt install it. i use skype, and if i wanna record something i use windows movie maker.
