PE 440 NvMe storage

Hi 

PE440 is populated with classical HDDs on the PERC card. 

I wanted to add NVME storage.

Dell sold me 2 Rizer cards and one BOSS card with 2 Nvme slots for M2 Disks. 

BOSS card is recognized but not the m2 disks. The size of the disks are 2 x 4Tb. I tried all options on BIOS PCI bifurcation settings but the M2 Disks are not recognized.

Since I had no experience with BOSS cards i purchased what I have been told. It seems BOSS cards are not done for storage but for OS Boot. Due to replace SD cards ...

My questions are  ; 

- What PCIe NvME adapter (Gen3 16x) I should purchase to plug to riser cards so that nmy M2 Disks are recognized.  

- Can I possibly do Raid1 from 2 x 4TB cards

Hi, sorry, unfortunately, we do not have a tool at our disposal as a technical team, such as the lists of direct sales teams, that this part is compatible with this part and works with this configuration. Therefore, in order not to mislead, it would be healthier to consult the sales team for such questions. Sometimes, if there are parts we know, of course, we help, but if we do not have data in the form of a matrix table for the server in question, we cannot give more information.

I already have the box running for 2yrs

I wanted to add some M2 storage and ... Things happened as I described above.

Tbh I was not expecting Tech support here. I have access to Dell support as the box is still under warranty. Dell says sorry BOSS card supports 480G and its not done for storage but  OS boot

I was expecting community experience about what to plug  on PER440 to add M2 storage on PCIe (rizer ) cards. Dell sold me 2 Rizers

I will look on the market what fits in Riser cards for M2 Storage
