2407 Test

Hi, I am new to the forum and just recently purchase a 2407wfp. After reading all the issues that this monitor have, I was wondering is there a certain test I can use to test this monitor once I get it.

    Here are some free test programs:

    WIndows
    gradlin-v0.2-fs.exe - RGB gradient test screens

    Checkemon - Test screens for solid color, gradients & more.

    Softcare Monitor Test - Test screens for vertical and horizontal gradients, solid colors, geometry & more.

    EIZO Monitor Tester - 24 test images for geometry, convergence, brightness, homogeneity and panel response time.

    Dead Pixel Buddy - Solid color test screens

    Undead Pixel - Solid color test screens, pixel flasher.

    Dead Pixel Tester - Solid color & gradient test screens, pixel flasher & more.

    Nokia Monitor Test - Test screens for color, resolution, brightness, contrast, geometry, focus, readability and more.

    NEC Monitor Test - Test screens for color, resolution, brightness, contrast, geometry, focus, readability, and more.

    Pixel Persistence Analyser - Tests for pixel persistence (aka 'ghosting') in LCD displays. Interprets user adjustments to test screens, and returns numerical values for Gamma Factor, Transition Time, scrolling text readability and other criteria.

    flatpanels.dk monitor test
    Run online in window or fullscreen mode (suitable for Macs), or download executable fullscreen program for any resolution.


    flatpanels.dk Input lag test
    Can be used to test for input lag if you have 2 monitors connected. You will need a camera to record the counter.

     Thanks for your help, I just got my monitor today.  It is a A02 :smileysad: but I am going to run the tests on it anyway.  I seriously thought I was going to get the A03 since I ordered last saturday.  Would it still be possible to exchange the monitor for a A03 even after the 21 days or do I have to do it within the 21 days period.

    Thanks a bunch, gpro, very handly list.

    Another problem besides banding you can test is a weird afterglow when the panel's pixels switch from white to certain shades of grey, I assume it is a problem with Dell's overdrive technology, which is used to increases the response rate by using more voltage than necessary. But the Dell overshoots when transitioning from very close shades (white to light grey).

    Tom's Hardware rates overshooting (but I couldn't a review of the 2407 there).

    Now an example of the problem,

    I also notice it when scrolling through some webpages, unforuntately I forgot which one. Quite annoying

    I just received a new 2407 yesterday, and it's an A02. I was expecting an A03. It has banding in the vertical direction, but not in the horizontal direction in all image modes. It has pronounced afterglow when scrolling, which can be seen by scrolling on this forum's own pages. I've reduced the afterglow problem by reducing the brightness of the monitor, which has a default that's too bright. But the afterglow is still there. I'm debating whether to ship it back to Dell.

    interesting, that had been my guess as to the cause but I had never really known for sure.
    they really munged the electronics.
