I have the monitor connected to my Dell XPS 710 running the nVidia GeForce 8800GTX video card using the supplied DVI cable. When I power down the computer or it goes to sleep, the monitor power button turns orange indicating it has entered power saving mode. There is also a small dialogue that appears indicating the monitor is entering power save mode. Well, about 10 minutes later the power button returns to green all on its own indicating that the monitor has returned to full power mode. Does anyone know what is causing this? Again, the system if powered off and there is nothing that appears on the screen indicating otherwise. This did not occur when I had the monitor connected to the CPU using the VGA cable.

 

Also, is having my monitor in full power mode when the system is powered off bad?

 

I have updated all the drivers for the video card and monitor. I am also running Win XP. Everything else works great with the system :)
