2408WFP 3 replacements...

Today I have received what will now be my 3rd replacement monitor in the last month. Needless to say I am losing confidence in the Dell brand.  While the first two replacements were fairly straight forward to receive, this last one was a pain. I was disconnected, forced to contact pay support for an issue that was clearly not due to a third party device conflict (as the new monitor proves) and when I finally called back in and received help, what do I get in return?  I receive a 2408WFP that works, but has scuff marks on the stand, and the top silver of the monitor bezel has the corners rubbed off completely and a scuffed line dead center on the top as well.

The previous RMA  provided me with a monitor which had no scuffs, no visual imperfections, and looked fantastic! However the HDMI port would not accept signal from any device providing an HDCP signal (PS3 etc).  I shouldn't have to pick between a functional monitor and a non scratched monitor. But this is what I feel I am left doing. So I ask... is it common for a Dell refurbished monitor to arrive with possible scuffs and scratches?  I always thought the exteriors of remanufactured items were replaced with new ones, keeping the original internals when possible.   Has this monitor slipped by quality control accidentally or...is this common?

Dell was kind enough at first to upgrade my monitor to resolve a buzzing issue, and support was at first excellent. My previous 2408WFP was beautiful, but defective. This one is functional (HDMI works great) but...scuffed. Perhaps I am being too picky, but when you sit all day in front of something these marks catch the eye. So... what I would like to know is, is this common practice for refurbished monitors to have such scratches and scuffs? Should I once again set up an RMA for this monitor too now? If so...what do I list as the issue?

    jamesjackson,

Will a refurbished monitor be perfect, no. Bezel scuffs, etc. are normal on refurbished. Your only option is to keep getting exchanges until you get one that your satisfied with.

    Thanks for the reply Chris!

It just seems wasteful to all parties involved that this is what the procedure has become.  I mean...I just noticed last night that this display has uneven light bleed. The one I am about to send back had light bleed too, but it was even in all four corners so...it didn't catch the eye as much. This new one has it in the upper right way more then the others. It seems like no matter what there is always going to be something not perfect, which is honestly disappointing.  I baby my equipment and to do all that and not get a piece of equipment back in equal condition is hard to swallow.  I mean yes, sometimes a refurb isn't perfect. Its been my experience the internals are the costly aspect  and so the outer shell or casing of a product is always replaced with new, while the internals are reused. That said...I would have at least expected to recieve a replacement that LOOKED perfect.

I mean its almost humorus at this point.  The display I am about to return is in every way perfect except for the bad HDMI port and if not for that one thing I would happily keep it. No scratches, even light bleed, great color.... but this replacement is scuffed and has uneven light bleed, yet ironically is actually fucntional unlike the previous one. Its almost like...why didn't I just save myself the money and buy refurbished in the first place?  But again, thank you for your reply. I guess I will play the lottery once more and see if the 4th time will be any better.
