my moniter caught on fire

i had a dell dimension moniter, keyword "had".   I shut down my computer like I always do whenever I'm not home, and when I returned I smelled burnt electronics when I was unlocking my front door.  I went in my house and smoke was billowing out of my room, I opened the door and the moniter had a flame inside of it and was smoking hellaciously.   I took it apart and looked to examine the problem and the the circuitboard was totally fried, melted all over the place.   I dunno what the h3ll would have caused this but it is B-S.  I bought the monitor from a local computer store and didn't even bother returning it.  It could have been much worse and it's all Dell's fault with thier faulty electronics and |\|()0|3 comp making skills.  I'd like to chat with a representive but i need that stupid code to get in contact with them.  Therefore I cannot take the problem up directly with dell, not even an email.  I dont have the number because i pitched my moniter.  You guys need to take more time making your shi7 and make sure it's NOT going to catch on fire.  Im not really rich therefore I'm using a cr4ppy moniter right now which hues are all messed up, many shades of blue, nothing else.  Also I'm a graphic designer therefore that doesn't work too well.  Thanks alot for wasting my money and almost roasting my house.  Not to mention the electronics smell that lingered in my house for the following 3 days.  I think you should get in contact with me if you read this.  Or someone generous with that code on thier moniter lemme have it so i can use it to chat with a rep.  If not thanks anyway.

    LordOki,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

If you have the order or customer number from when you purchased the monitor you can use it when you contact Dell.

You can chat with them via phone without a code. Just whenever it asks for the service tag keep hitting 0 and then it'll eventually forward you to someone. They will then ask you for your service tag and just tell them you don't have one because you only have a monitor.

Sorry to hear you had the problem, but if you think Dell monitors are rubbish, why would you want another one? Also, why didn't you take it back to where you bought it and ask for a replacement? If the monitor was not part of a Dell system, it doesn't have a "service tag" (the code). Don't think anyone would be stupid enough to give you the code that belongs to their system. That would make them party to a fraud.
