Backup Single Volume with NMM

Hi,

I would like to backup a single volume on a host. I have NMM 2.4.1 build 122 installed on the host.

Saveset selected is C: , Backup command is nsrsnap_vss_save.exe Application information parameter is NSR_SNAP_TYPE=vss

The Backup fails with

86745:nsrsnap_vss_save:Version information for C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\bin\nsrsnap_vss_save.exe:

  Original file name: nsrsnap_vss_save.exe

  Version: 2.4.1.122

Comments: NetWorker Module for Microsoft Applications (x64)

50423:nsrsnap_vss_save:nsrsnap_vss_save: Unknown Application Information parameter: device interface, may not be supported

50410:nsrsnap_vss_save:nsrsnap_vss_save: Must provide Application Information NSR_SNAP_TYPE value

62872:nsrsnap_vss_save:nsrsnap_vss_save: snapvss_validateAparams()failed to validate one or more Application Information parameters

68151:nsrsnap_vss_save:nsrsnap_vss_save: Exiting with failure.

mtcadmin01:C:\: No full backups of this save set were found in the media database; performing a full backup

mtcadmin01:C:\: retried 1 times.

If I run it with the Application information parameter it still fails with the same error.

Not sure what I am doing wrong here?

Thanks

Leandro

    Hi Nappy,

Please add the following variable in the Application Information field:

    NSR_VSS_FORCE_SYSTEM_PROVIDER=yes

If still fails (I don't think it should) then please paste here the full error message.

Also, did you check the box for "Data Domain backup"? and Client Direct? if so please try to uncheck those boxes first.

    Thank you,

    Carlos

What is the target device? is it a DD, AFTD/Tape ? if it is a DataDomain select the "DataDomain" in the tabs "Apps & Modules" in the client configuration and try again.

    Nappy,

OK.. Uncheck "DataDomain" and uncheck "Client Direct" and in the Application parameters add "NSR_DEVICE_INTERFACE=DATA_DOMAIN".

You mentioned that you use a DD. Do you have DDboost enabled or are you using it as an AFTD with the DD as a CIFS share ?

    Hi Nappy,

Could you please attach screenshots of the client configuration? (all tabs) as well as the group configuration?

Also, can you please provide us with more info about the backup devices? Data Domain or AFTD, if DD, how is it configured, if you want to use DDBoost or Storage Node instead etc.

    Thank you,

    Carlos
