Chaning media pools through scripting

Hi,

Does anyone know if its possible to change pools on already written data??

I have written data to the correct media but into the wrong pool. I know that I could do a stagejob that would stage the data from one pool to another but it would be alot easier if I just could through scripting change to pools.

Hope this makes sense

I guess you want to move a media you have to another pool, keeping the data on it, is this right? To allocated a media to a pool, you need to run a label operation, and this will "erase" all data on the tape, so I don't think you can change it on another way, and I've never heard nothing about that.

So, go ahead and stage all those savesets to another media from the correct pool, it's not that harder :)

Yes that's exactly correct, i want to move a media from one pool to another without "changing" the data on the media. Hoped that it somehow could be possible with some nsrmm change into the media database. You know like when you change browse and retent time for example.

Kind of new that staging was the only way out of this situation but had to see if somebody else had an idea. It's alot of data that needs to be staged so it would have been easier to "manipulate" the media database.

This is absolutely not possible. When a piece of media is labelled it is labelled into a particular pool - this is how it stays until the media is relabelled, at which point all the data on the media is gone.
