Problem with block based incremental backups.
Hello fellow backup enthusiasts!
Im experiencing some problems with incremental Block Based Backups on a Win 2008 R2 64bit file server to DD Storage.
The NetWorker version of the client and server is 8.1.0.1.Build.199.
The DDOS version is 5.4.0.4-388934 and DD Model is a DD2500.
A Full backup works fine but incremental backup of C:\ and DISASTER RECOVERY\ save sets fail when performing an incremental backup.
Has anyone experienced this problem?

Hi Bingo,
Updating the Windows version from 2008 R2 64 is not an option. Got full and incremental backups working on the same windows version and networker version on another client so it shouldnt be any different from each other. I could try to update the NetWorker client version, but I don´t think that is the main issue in this case.

No haven´t tried to disable the change journal yet. Will do that once I get access to the system.

Nope. Here is rule of thumb with recent releases:
X.Y.Z.0 - DA version
X.Y.Z.1 - GA version
Same applies to modules. When it comes to 8.1, you had DA release as 8.1.0.0... then when GA was released, it was 8.1.0.1, but this is not seen as hotfix release, but initial GA and this is why it not in cumfix location. First patch release for this SP is 8.1.0.2 and this is why it appears that way.

Hi mapare,
Unfortunately no real solution have been found as of yet. However a workaround in this case was to make a new client definition with only the save set C:\. Then Full and Incremental block based backup worked.

Although the manual does not tell you exactly why, it clearly points out that you should update your Windows version upfront.
I have also seen a bunch of major and minor issues with NW 8.1.0.1 which all disappeared after updating to 8.1.0.2. That is probably the reason why it is missing in the Cumulative Hotfixes folder.
Before you do anything else, may i suggest that you update Windws as well as NW.
