3024 Firmware Question

I opened a console connection to my 3024 and set it to boot to the latest firmware version (6.12)from the network.  The switch did boot from the network, the ip address, mask, etc. is correct however, I can not ping the switch from my laptop. The laptop is configured with a static ip address.

I checked the port manager and noticed that the port my laptop is plugged into was disabled.  I enabled the port and the state changed to forwarding but I could still not ping the switch.

If I change the boot setting of the switch to boot normally with the old firmware (5.14), I can ping the switch from my laptop.

I would that even if I boot from the network I should still be able to ping the switch.  Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks,

Cliff

I figured out the cause of the problem.  I had to disable dymanic address learning to clear out the entries then re-enabled it and everything was fine.

    Thanks anyhow.
