Connect switch PC 3448 with 5324

Hi. I am a little confused. I have connected three switches Dell: one 3448 and two 5324 using a cable - simple cable and crossover too. The thing is: the connection between the 5324 switches is ok - only green ligths - but the connections between a 5324 and 3448 switch is not ok because at one end the red light is on. Any idea why? I have tried to add an extra cable but no luck. Thank you!

I guess the first thing you need to make sure of is that you are using a crossover cable. If so, then check the modes the two ports are in. Make sure they are in the same mode. What I mean by this is make sure both are either in access mode, trunk mode, or general. Whichever you are trying to use. Make sure they are set to auto-negotiate too.

almost forgot...you do not need to use crossover cables.

you're getting an amber light for the connection between the 5324 and 3448 because the 3448 is 100mb and the 5324 is 1000mb. you should lock down the ports connecting these two switches at 100mb full duplex. the amber light on the 5324 is ok as long as it is the link(left light)and not the duplex.

The ports support auto-MDIX so a straight-thru cable is sufficient.  I would recommend using either the g3 or g4 ports on the 34xx, they are gigabit ports.
