Resetting a PowerConnect 3024
I just picked up a Powerconnect 3024 at an auction and plan on using it for my home network. The IP has been changed and I have no way to connect to the console port to factory reset it. I do not have a PC with an RS-232 port. My understanding after doing a ton of searching and reading is that it's basically a brick if I can't connect via console. I know there are RS-232 to USB converters available on amazon for cheap, and I was wondering if I would be able to connect to the console port using a USB interface? Or if there is any method, hardware or otherwise, to factory reset the switch or sniff out the IP. This is my first attempt at networking beyond plugging an ethernet cable in to a router, so I apologize if this is a dumb question. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Hello,
as far as I know mostly users use USB converters. Unfortunately, Connecting to the Dell PowerConnect switches with the serial null-modem cable is the only way that you can watch the progress of the switch booting up. I'm not sure is there a way to sniff out the IP for this model. If there is a way might be the community can help with that.
