Hi, i've a new stack of 3 s3148 switches that will replace old D-link switches I want to know more than what the manual explain about storm control. When i run this command in config mode i get:
Dell(conf)#storm-control broadcast ? <0-33554368> Packets per second permitted
This is a stack global number of pps? In some articles that i've read recommends set a 10% of total traffic for storm control. Based on that premise i would set the command with 10% of total pps:
Dell(conf)#storm-control broadcast 3500000
Is this a reasonable idea? If not, what would be the correct parameters for broadcast and multicast storm control on s3148?
Yes, you are correct, doing it at the configuration level is for the whole stack. You can also do it at an interface level if you need finer control. Let us know if you have any other questions.
I was not able to find any official recommendation for what it should be set to. However, 10% seems fine based on what I could find. 5% might be enough too.
