Netgear wireless issues

I have the netgear WGR614v6 router hooked up to my dimension 4700, connected to a DSL modem. The problem is it will work for awhile, but then it drops me. I then have to restart the DSL modem to get internet connection. Can someone help me figure out why it keeps dropping the internet.

Thank you.

The link takes me to netgear support. I am still not sure what to do. The DSL carrier is telling me that the router is not keeping up with the IP address changes. It should be a dynamic IP address.

I've had this problem myself but not on a netgear router.  I found that it was because the modem was trying to supply an ip address and the router was trying to do the same.  How i fixed it was i went into my modem's settings and changed it to bridge mode.  This allowed my router to assign ip addresses.  Thus no more conflict with ip adress assignment.

I had the same problem with the 614 as do a lot of people. The router heats up and then disconnects, netgear is aware of this problem but do not seem to be in a hurry to correct it or admit it,switched to belkin pre n and have no problems
