remote networking
we currently have 2 dell dimension 2400s in our house but only one is hooked up to the internet via the a dsl cable connection. I checked with the cable company and they informed me that i would need a second interent router if i would want another internet connection . now with this wireless router could i use it to connect our second 2400 to the internet without the costly rental of a second router from the cable compnany. and if so how would i go about doing this

What you already have is a cable or dsl modem (it's unlcear from your message which one it is). What you need is a router. If your current cable or dsl modem has an ethernet port, the you can get a wireless router. The router will connect to the cable or dsl modem. One computer will connect to router via an ethernet cable and the other computer, if it has a wireless network card, can connect to router through wireless. Most forum regulars would recommend a Linksys Router, either a BEFW11S4 (for 11 Mbps connection) or a WRT54G (for 54 Mbps speeds). The extra expense of the faster router is really not necessary unless you are transferring lots of files between the computers (the cable or dsl connection will only run at 2 to 3 Mbps at the max). Similar routers from D-Link, NetGear, and Belkin will work just as well. Dell also sells the Truemobile line of routers, but read these forums before deciding on the Truemobile routers.
