I have a Dim 4600, and I connect to the Internet wirelessly via WUSB54G Adapter. The higher I connect to is between 1 - 5.5mbps. Would using a USB 2.0 pci card or adapter make a diffrence as to the speed? So far I'm unable to determine if my destop has USB 1 or USB 2 ports, there eight (8) of them 2 front and six in back. Can some one help?
I believe a G type is actually capable of 108mbps. I doubt you'd ever reach 54mbps to be honest. I've never seen an adapter that has reached its supposed potential in terms of data rate.
Could be. I still not too convinced that my 4600 is equiped with the proper usb ports to get the best of the adapter. I read some where that a high speed usb could increase the chances of getting more mbps from the wusb. Oddly enough i installed xp pro and it detected the usb ports as not high speed ones and my adapter as high speed, perhaps i should get an high speed usb adapter and experiment. Anyway, i'll get back with the results.

The 4600 has USB 2 ports. The speed ports wouldn't affect the transfer rate anyway, given that:
1. The rate you mentioned is the rate at which the adapter connects to the router;
2. USB 1.1 is rated at 1.5-12Mbps anyway, which is higher than what your connecting at.
